Prince George, British Columbia July 22nd, 2022:

Tsay Keh Dene and Provectus Biofuels are pleased to announce the signing of an agreement for collaboration in developing a biofuel plant in Mackenzie, B.C.  This agreement is an important building block towards advancing the design and construction of a state-of-the-art wood waste to green gasoline plant.

The agreement is the culmination of extensive preparatory work and studies. These studies show that a biofuel plant that uses wood waste to produce biofuel is not only technically and financially feasible, it is an environmentally-responsible and necessary response to the growing threat of climate change. Reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions through use of the abundant wood waste, a climate friendly energy resource, in the Mackenzie region is a significant advance.

Joan Atkinson, Mayor of the District of Mackenzie stated, “The District of Mackenzie welcomes the news of the Partnership between the Tsay Keh Dene Nation and Provectus Biofuels.  Full utilization of wood fibre is a major concern to all forest-dependent communities as we watch our forests being challenged with over-harvesting, forest health issues and loss of timber to wildfires and floods.  Our community has suffered huge economic blows in the last three years and this project helps to chart a path forward for Mackenzie.”

Chief Johnny Pierre of Tsay Keh Dene noted that, “We are excited to enter into this agreement with Provectus to advance the biofuel project. Greater use of biofuels is critical to any credible strategy for reducing GHG emissions caused by the transportation sector. Equally important, it will also avoid burning forest residuals in Mackenzie, a wasteful and environmentally harmful practice, and ensure their use to produce climate-friendly fuel.”

Jon Jaque, President and CEO of Provectus Biofuels said, “We have been very fortunate to build important relationships in a location that is ideal to launch our first-of-its-kind patented, low-carbon green gasoline technology. We are looking forward to working with Chief Johnny Pierre and Mayor Joan Atkinson. We look forward to contributing to the economic prosperity of the District of Mackenzie and the Tsay Keh Dene Nation.”
